Course Description

Ethics Refresher 2012: 2/27. Presented by Richard Clem. This is part 1 of a comprehensive review of the Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys in Wisconsin and Minnesota. Most states have adopted substantially similar rules governing lawyers, and this course will review the rules as adopted in these and other states. Where the rules differ, we will go over the differences as adopted in other states. Seeing these differences gives insight into the meaning of the rule in all states. Many lawyers review the Rules in their entirety only once, and that is before they take the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in law school. But the rules change over the years and decades, and some of the finer points might be forgotten. We'll cover many of the rules, and the written materials will cover the rules in their entirety. This is part 1 of a five part program. The parts stand alone and can be taken in any order. The course materials for this portion of the program are available at this link.

Recent Wisconsin Supreme Court Decisions, January 2013. 2/20. Presented by Richard Clem. We will look at the decisions of the Wisconsin Supreme Court handed down in January 2013. Topics include: Search and seizure, waiver of counsel, newly discovered evidence, voluntary confession, child care licensure, public records, and tort claims. The course materials for this program are available at this link.
