Program Description

We an interesting live program planned:

Ethics Refresher 2012: Presented and moderated by Richard Clem. This will be a comprehensive review of the Iowa Rules of Professional Conduct for attorneys in Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa. Most states have adopted substantially similar rules governing lawyers, and this course will review the rules as adopted in Iowa and other states. Where the rules differ, we will go over the differences as adopted in other states. Seeing these differences gives insight into the meaning of the rule in all states. Many lawyers review the Rules in their entirety only once, and that is before they take the Multistate Professional Responsibility Exam in law school. But the rules change over the years and decades, and some of the finer points might be forgotten. We'll cover many of the rules, and the written materials will cover the rules in their entirety. The parts we're not able to cover in this two hour program are covered in conference call programs which can be taken for credit. You can also view the remainder of the program online at no cost (but not for Iowa credit). Live lecture, one hour.

The New Iowa Advertising Rules, Presented by Richard Clem. We will spend an hour looking at the new amendments to the Iowa advertising rules, which will take effect on January 1. In addition, we'll take a brief look at the previous rules, and also compare the new rules with the rules as adopted in Nebraska, Minnesota, and other states. Even though the rules have been liberalized considerably, there are a few surprises that might affect many Iowa attorneys, such as the new rules covering website URL's. Live lecture, one hour.
